Awesome New York!!!

Hello All,
Sorry for the delay in sending the details of next part of our trip, but here are the photos of New York.

As I said in last blog, Mom and Uma were eagerly waiting to meet each other, and so were we all. Dad, I and Uma’s family members wanted to see these two school friends meet, talk, chitchat, laugh, share their old school stories with us. Uma and her husband Arvind, have come to USA to meet their daughters who are with their families here at New Jersey. We reached Samata and Akshay’s house (Uma’s Daughter and son-in-law) that day late in the night, still every member of Uma’s family (including Samata and Akshay’s cute little angel new born baby) was awake to receive us. We were greeted with affectionate welcome. The delicious dinner helped us forget our journey boredom. Uma and Mom were so happy to meet each other that they kept on talking for hours past dinner.
Next day Akshay dropped us at Priceton Junction, from where we took train to New York Penn station. Penn station is right in the downtown area and Times Square is few blocks from it. We went to the Madame Tussaud’s wax museum first. We took lots and lots of photos with wax figures of all celebrities. Then we went to M&M world. M&M is famous candy product here in USA. (These candies are similar to cadbury’s Gems). After that we took subway train (Metro) to reach “ground zero”. This is the place where World Trade Center was destroyed by terrorist attack back in 2001. We also saw Trinity Church, NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) and “big bull” in front of it. We came back to Times Square in the evening and enjoyed the night view of NY. We boarded train later to get us back to Priceton Junction. Samata and Akshay came to receive us. Fantastic dinner followed by stories from Mom and Uma’s school life memories helped our tiredness run away. (You are bound to get tired with all the long walks in the NY city, unless you have athlete figure.)
Next day we got up early so as to reach Liberty Park in New Jersey on time to board our ferry to the Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Ellis Island in New York Harbor was the gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States as the site of the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 to 1954. I need not say anything about statue of liberty as everyone knows what that is, but here are some fun facts about it from wikipedia.

We took the ferry to reach Battery Park in New York. We then took Metro funday pass and went to see the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, completed in 1883. You might remember seeing this bridge in many Hollywood and Bollywood movies. We then mate Sachin (my cousin brother) near the empire state building. Dad wanted to see the United Nations building, so we took metro again and went to see UN Office. We then came with Sachin to his house in New Jersey. Wow, I should tell you, that was like being in India. Lots of Indian restaurants, shops, public and many more… typical Indian atmosphere. We drove back to Uma’s house after that, and it was really late when we reached back. Samata and Uma had prepared tasty dinner that night and we could not stop us having that delicious meal, even though we had had Dosa, Idli etc in restaurant near Sachin’s house.
Next day we were going to Virginia at Pallavi’s house (my ex-john Deere friend), so we left in the morning, saying bye bye and thanks to everyone at Uma’s house. It was again a heartfelt moment to take photos with all and saying good bye, see you all again in India….
Enjoy the photo link…. Awesome NY….

Regards,
Bharat
